Patna: The Patna High Court on Friday took suo motu cognizance of the severe waterlogging issues plaguing several cities across Bihar following recent heavy rains. Citing media reports and the plight of citizens, the court has directed the Bihar government’s Urban Development and Housing Department to file a detailed report on the preventive measures taken before the monsoon. The court has asked the government to explain the reasons for the failure of drainage systems and has scheduled the next hearing in two weeks.
